Why do you want to represent FFE?

I am a Journalist for KPFA 94.1 FM Radio & Entertainment Chair for the Empowering Women of Color Conference at UC Berkeley for the last 7 years booking local artists and celebrities each year. I want to introduce listeners to FFE & provide space for women to find their voice, community, feel validated, not overlooked, & find solutions together.

Why are you a role model for other plus-sized women?

I take risks. I don’t back down when someone tells me no because of my weight, color, gender, or class. I am in charge of my destiny. I want to teach others to take a stand and decide to love themselves because if you don’t, no one else will.

If you could tell FFE fans one more thing about yourself, what would you want them to know?

I took a risk last year, when I began to discover & enter into the world of the fabulously full figured fashion scene. I assisted my good friend & fashion designer at the 2nd Annual West Coast Caribbean Fashion Show in 2010. I watched as beautiful Black women of all sizes graced the stage with clothes that seemed to be designed just for them; it was a perfect match both in personality & body type. Seeing the beauty on that runway, started a fire within me & I too wanted to walk the runway to prove to myself that I could do it. Recently, I was chosen as one of the models (only five were chosen) for GZ | S o u l y e Studios|Showroom|Gallery Breast Cancer “Pink” Photo Art Exhibit honoring The Sharon Randolph Foundation for the Month of October 1-29th 2011.
